DoT Damage is being displayed

July 2003 Patch

Quote:

Reporting Damage Over Time - Damage over Time (DoT) done to NPCs will now be reported to the caster every time it does damage. These messages can be filtered in the Options window.
Basically you should not get a message every tic that it does damage. Only a landing and a worn off message for your DoTs.

The timeline for the spell data file has been set already, there is no need to continue showing DoT tics on Green.

Your link is timing out.

I also don't see it here: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/hist...es-2003-2.html

Looks like the typhoon has taken out the Japanese patch history site

Dolalin appears to be right the EQ patch website is hosted in Japan and there typhoon seems to have destroyed a large chunk of infrastructure.

However I found another source for this:

Coincidentally this is also the patch note that introduced scroll wheel to 3rd person. Not sure if that’s on the chopping block or not but it’s definitely a bit immersion killing.

Not really, considering you can just F9 for 6 different camera angles, some of them similar to scroll wheel.

I think there's something to be said about how the seamless transition between 1st and 3rd person offered by scroll wheel encourages more people to play in 3rd person granting them greater view of their surroundings. While F9 views can accomplish a similar thing, they are clumsy and not friendly to use in regular play, usually only used for specific scenarios.

However that was a tangent from the main purpose of this thread, which is to make sure DoT classes don't have a leg up over other classes by having information on when their DoTs will end.

I believe this is the case and should be changed. I am looking for a prekunark/kunark/velious screenshot showing this in action. Anyone have one?

https://web.stanford.edu/group/htgg/...lle_2002_1.pdf

If you look at the pictures embedded on pages 8 & 10 of the PDF you see him casting Heat Blood, the message for the spell landing and then a few combat rounds with no resulting DoT tick shown. Unfortunately this is an early Luclin timeframe due to the skeleton model and the ability to still use that old UI.

Still looking for a Velious era screenshot. Sadly all the biggest screenshot archives are from Rogue Monk or Warrior vantage points.

Don't recall, but are you seeing damage message from taking poison/dot damage from an NPC on P99? Found this image of just the poison message but not damage resulting.

Side note, not sure if she can proc the poison on P99, never did the fight (assuming rogue poison)
