Login is an abject failure since mid February

So, running p99 through wine on Mac High Sierra. Patch file is correct etc.

90% of the time server list doesn't populate.
When it does, 75% of the time I get desync to login before character select.
When I get to character screen, 75-80% of the time I desync to login screen when logging character(s)in.
40% of the time, desync when zoning, kick to login.
40% of the time, zoning takes several minutes if I do make it.

These rates are persistent 100% of the time I try to play. Last night I couldn't play for 3 hours because server list wouldn't populate. From 9pm EST to 12:00am EST, could not even get to server selection a single time.

Today it took 30 minutes to actually play. I just got back home and am trying to play. Going on 30 minutes trying to login now. Still can't play.

This is insane.

been working fine for me on my end.

do you use wireless, what your describing is what its like when im phone tethered in or on a shitty wireless connection

Was having similar problems. I downloaded the p99 helper middlemand and it’s got server list generating 100% of the time. I’m running Linux

I also was sufffering crashing and slow zoning. I deleted my characters ini file and that helped. It’s not perfect but I can reliably get in game. But there’s still more to it than clicking play and having 0 issues.

Yeah, login server is a nightmare and won't populate if you have high ping. If your cell phone has lower latency than your normal net connection, you might consider tethering. P99 uses very little data.

My connection/ping is fine. I average around 40ms, with avg. 5mbps. It also happens throughout the day and intermittently in that I can't even get a server list to pop for for hours, but then other times have no problem and get right through. Sometimes my computer is the only device on my router, sometimes I have 2-3 other devices actively using router. The result does not change.

Will fix it. Just change your eqhost.txt file to localhost:5998 and run that program and keep it running before you login.

that works for getting the server list but zoning is still very bad most the time. its probably 20% success rate for me. i'm using wine and my other computer on windows has no issues zoning. are all the people having trouble using wine?

Are you sure the p99 folks control the equ emu login server? You might be barking up the wrong tree.

Same problem here. Haven't really played in awhile since the server select screen is far too difficult to bring up. I'm using Windows 7.
Like people say, it might be bad internet. I'm not on wireless, but I am on DSL. And it's the worst DSL you can possibly get. I might have to switch internet providers just so I can play on P1999 again.

Do you know how to make that work with Windows?
(I posted about that here)

That github link has a visual studio project file in it, so you should be able to either install a free copy of visual studio and compile it.

But it might be easier just to download make for windows and compile it from a command line.

http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/down...ke-bin-zip.php

Might possibly need these dependencies also: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/down...ke-dep-zip.php

Put the binary (and dependencies) in the same folder as the github project and just type make.
