Mechanics and Melee question.

Have saved my money and can afford a Woodsmen Staff (31/35) at 4Kpp or I can buy a FBSS at 2.5Kpp to go along with my Springwood Stave (31/42). My understand of how haste applies / my lackluster math skills put the Stave plus FBSS delay at 42/1.21 = 34.71.

Questions: is there any difference / pro to having a better default ratio v a ratio modified to be faster but only after applying haste?

If not, seems like it makes sense to get the FBSS, then save another 2.5Kpp with the assistance of the faster modified haste ration and then get Woodsmen to go along with FBSS.

Thoughts / answer appreciated.

Only thing I can think of is possible reaching your haste cap?

Your haste item will be universally beneficial to whatever you're swinging/attacking with. Basically, you're going to need a haste item either way (regardless if you're swinging a Springwood or a Woodsman later on).

Note- you can only acquire *worn* haste from one total item. If you're wearing two items that have haste, whichever worn item has the higher haste % will be what you're working with (ie worn haste does not stack). Haste that players cast on you (or sing via bard) will stack with whatever you're wearing.

SCHW (silver chitin handwraps) are a cheaper haste option than FBSS, just to note. Good luck and happy hunting my ranger friend!

Easy question, start with haste then the weapon... But do yourself a favor, get a schw not a fbss, better and cost less, the only drawback is that it's a glove and not a belt...

Keep in mind misses, faster weap overall will get you more hits in.

Thanks!

These guys are right, but if the difference of a couple thousand plat can mean getting you more hp/str/mana/ac gear, then I'd opt for those upgrades over haste since even a 100p Nature's Wrath and a 90p set of Banded and a 200p Runed Oak Bow are enough to solo a Ranger to 50 (though as a ranger there are plenty of upgrades you can camp on your own along the way). More HP, Str and Mana will give you a far higher quality of life in that time and you can get a free haste belt in Sky by then.

You want a haste before 30...and schw are cheap...a real haste item can wait for high levels but a 20% item should be a priority..

Fixed this.

Honestly not sure if trolling or doesnt know basic math.

Yes and no. Its simple math. Given they're both 2hb and share same skill, they will have the same miss rate. Lets just say you have terrible 2hb skill and you miss 60% of the time.

If you can perform 5 attacks vs 10 due to some unreasonable difference in attack speed (again, just imaginary), You would miss 3/5 (landing 2 attacks) on the slower weap and missing 6/10 (landing 4 attacks) on the faster one.
