Red Wood Wand?
 

What are Red Wood Wands for? I see people WTB them and I can't imagine that 5 charges of a level 16 wizard spell would be worth the 500pp people ask for them, even if rechargeable. Thanks!

My guess is that they're used for pulling. It's all/all so I could see it being used by a Rogue or Monk (who normally only has throwing weapons) so that they can instead pull with a range 200 spell for certain encounters ... but that's just a guess.

You can PL yourself with them if you get 20-30 of them. Pull a swarm on any class and then rotate through the wands burning charges. They are instant with no GCD, you can go through a bunch of wands really fast.

They have been used for FTE, though Ive heard Sirken say not to do it. With a player corpse in the spawn spot, you can click the Wand on the corpse and aoe the area tagging anything near it

There are some that are glitched on the server with over 140 charges. This allows one with 5 charges to be recharged to 140+ if you have a wand with that many. This allows people to run around kiting mobs and burning them down with instant cast 4 target AE that doesn't require you to face them.

Level 1 warrior can solo to about level 52 with them, and never raise a single combat skill. Some people have 20+ of these and just go ham.

Jygia (druid usually sells WW dragon talismans) has a boatload of them with 144 charges

I could probably name a few others, but been away too long and the names elude me.

This same glitch also affects Ivandyr's Hoop (Unsure how many charges are floating around), Wooly Spider Silk Net (255 charges), and Ring of Shadow (255 charges). I have seen all of these myself

I was told a few years ago, that when the Trilogy client was allowed/supported that it could cause items to have 255 charges

Shouldnt be anymore Wands with illegal charges on them, that was a silent fix a few patches ago

Last time I saw them was about a year ago

I have 11 of them. I used them to level some alts. 9 of them can take down a quad of specs. Can quad lower level mobs too

PLing is fun when you own 50 of them

They are instant click 200 range aggro items usable from inventory. What makes them particularly special is they have 5 charges and are relatively inexpensive to recharge similar to a wand of frost bolts.
