Newbie question, this Merchant price discrepancy is normal?

Both these merchants con the same to me (they are both WARMLY ) and yet have VASTLY different prices for the same items, something that goes beyond mere charisma and faction.

Just found out when a passing Iksar low level monk passed through QH and asked me to help him buy bandage stacks.

I went broke right away by buying 2pp per stack of bandages, from Tubal , he reimbursed me and all , but it left me wondering if this is normal behavior? Seems excessive to pay DOUBLE price on one merchant, and this happens to others around qeynos and I believe in Surefall Glade too.

Again just wondering if it is intended.

Some merchants are what are called "greedy" merchants, and will, as you found out, charge you double what normal merchants charge for items, and I believe they will also pay half for your items compared to normal merchants. Tubal is indeed one of them. There are others scattered all over. I don't know if there is a comprehensive list, but it's not a bad idea to carry a "reference item" whose price at a normal merchant you know, and use that to test the offer prices of any merchants to see if they are greedy.

Never sell immediately next to a bank. Those merchants screw you from what I've found.

This. Back on live as I understood it there were actually two types of greedy merchants. The first kind were just always greedy; it was a part of who that NPC was.

The second kind however were normal merchants who become "too busy." Evidently if a normal merchant got enough traffic, that would make them start charging greedy prices. I'm not sure if this is true here, but it would explain why all the banker-adjacent merchants are greedy.
