How do chanters use ToT?

On live on pvp-server Theft of Thought worked on player characters with no mana (until it was nerfed which was quite a bit later than current p99 era). I'm considering rolling a chanter but I can't seem to figure out how ToT works on p99? Can you ToT a warrior mob? Does charm factor in? Like can I ToT a charmed warrior mob but not a non-charmed warrior mob? Thanks :)

Mob must have mana for ToT to work so it will not work on warrior mobs. Not sure about bard NPC's.

To ToT your charmed pet, charm must be broken first.

Thanks for the reply. So, snooping around some more I found this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vt9pUlviuc

Look at approx 6:35. He charms one Greater War Boned Skeleton then casts Theft of Thought on another Greater War Boned Skeleton. He even mentions how many percentage points his mana increases by. Those mobs are monks. How can that be?

He says, maybe it's another video, that it might be because the skeles harm touch that they are considered SKs, thus have mana to leech.

Right, could be it then.

Once 52 do you always have ToT memmed? How "good", for lack of a better word, is it on p99?

Razaz 04-20-2017 09:33 AM

I should note that I don't know if that's true but it was his explanation.

If you are fighting where you can ToT mobs consistently, I would have it memmed at all times. If you can't ToT mobs then take it off the bar.

yes depends on zones, typically I always keep it memmed in Sebilis

ToT lands on targets that have a "mana pool"

Hypothetically, you cast on a mob that has 1 mana left, you still get the full tap into your own pool.

Without clicking the video link, is this greater war boned skel in HS?

If it's a HS mob, they HT. As such, they're flagged as SK's and just don't have any spells loaded into their arsenal. SK = Manapool = Successful ToT

Hope that helps.

Yeah it is a HS mob and that explanation makes sense then. Thanks for clearing it up :)

All skeletons in HS are Shadowknights and therefore have mana to ToT.

In place like HS, Seb or Chardok, having ToT on the bar is a must. In place like Velk (if you're fighting spiders), it's useless to have it memmed.
