using wineq, game feels like its zoomed in and its not an issue with display settings. for example at character select i cannot see my characters name above his head

What resolution are you using? EQ doesn't support hor+ scaling, so it will retain your field of view despite having progressively wider and wider resolutions.

If you're using 16:9 try a 16:10 resolution. Remember, EQ was made with 4:3 in mind.

how do you find what ration you are using aka 4:3 16:9. i use to be smarter but than i had a kid and my IQ dropped below the color orange

2560x1080 is 21:9, extremely wide

try 1920x1080 for a 16:9 aspect ratio (less wide)
or 1680x1050 for a 16:10 aspect ratio (even less wide, and IMO the best balance)

edit: not sure if this was abundantly clear, but change the resolution of EQ -- not your desktop resolution. Leave that as-is.
