So I haven't played EQ since around 01' any tips for someone coming back and trying to relearn the game?

Do what you did back in 2001, but only better ? :D

If you're starting from scratch, consider a necromancer...they can level practically naked, once you break level 12 it gets easier and easier.

Have patience whatever you pick, some classes really dont develop properly until later on.

Lastly don't pick a class because it's desirable in groups - pick something you'll enjoy, you'll last longer and might not need to roll 4-5 alts :)

starting fresh make a druid and join Dial a Port to make some quick plat. So you can roll a toon you have always wanted to play.
