PvP in EQ is satisfying due to the punishing nature of death. Death in EQ is time-consuming, frustrating and essentially puts a halt on you doing anything due to being without gear.
This is what makes PVP fun in this game. The mechanics are clunky and balance doesn't exist. However, knowing that the person you killed now has to navigate the world in their birthday suit to recover his shit is rewarding in itself.
Wow is a good example of a complete opposite pvp game. Wow has incredible pvp mechanics and the actual fight is great fun. The classes are somewhat balanced and abilities all work in pvp. HOWEVER, killing someone means nothing, they spawn a few hundred yards away as ghost and quickly recover. There's no consequence and thus no satisfaction for killing someone.
I like both aspects, but I do prefer eq pvp for it's harsher nature.
