New guy saying hello
 

Hey everyone,

I saw a YouTube video by AC-Gamer about this server and immediately checked it out! I played Everquest in the early 2000s through high school, picked up right after PoP was released.

I'm excited to experience the game, as many of my friends have said, at its best. Even my first few steps in the world have been great, couple deaths but I'm starting to get my bearings!

I just hit level 11 on my bard Jofur and I just created a rogue Baamboozle. Look me up and so we can group.

His videos are awesome. Definitely recommend also checking out his friend's channel for more P99 videos (the guy who plays THOOM the BARBARIAN!)

Watching them got me to dust off p99 after being gone for like a year or two

I was just about to post this exact same thing. I was feeling nostalgic, fired up youtube while I was working and watched some P99 videos. That of course prompted the install and suddenly it was 2am and I had a level 3 wood elf druid. Hurray!

I have to tell a quick story. I was level two, and and I tried my hand at an even con spider. I knew they were tough, and I got a few good swings in early to give me confidence. Then I caught a run of misses and couldn't seem to turn it around. Worst of all I got poisoned! I was down to one bubble, and I resigned myself to my first death.

That's when it occurred to me that since I last played EQ during PoP, I hadn't played many games that gave me the ability to risk anything, especially as a new player. Only Eve fits the bill. I was actually EXCITED to be dying. Nothing was for granted, I had to earn it all over again. Gone are the days of 100kpp bank accounts and twinked monks with fungi and tranquil. It's just me and my Club*!

The best part was my poor little guy kept swinging away and got some good hits in. With his final breath he smacked the spider on the head and gained xp, then collapsed unconscious from the poison. I had completely forgotten about being unconscious! Survival! It's good to be back.

If anyone wants to group up, the in-game name is Ooats. I'm PST. I'm also liable to start multiple characters, druid was just so I could solo when I feel up to it.
