What if...

What if all MQs were disabled and people actually had the opportunity to complete their own epics instead of buying them? What if all raid loot was no drop and all the raid targets were killed by guilds who actually NEED the drops and not just to pad their banker mules? What if old world and kunark dragons did not die minutes after spawning and people could do classic things like PUG Nagafen/Vox raids? Do you think that would increase your enjoyment of this game? Just another idea that will never happen, but hey, a girl can dream.

People would adapt and kill the same mobs and unless you paid for loot rights, they would let it rot or pick it up for alts.

These are all features in WoW. No multi-questing, no buying legendaries with ingame currency, all raid loot is no drop, instances so everyone can kill whatever they want whenever they want, LFR/LFG pugging raids, etc. So no, I don't think those things mesh well with the classic style of p1999.

I played classic eq and I know there were pick up raids on a regular basis for old world raid mobs. The only difference was on live the socks were spread over multiple servers so there was actually a chance to find a dragon up. I didn't say anything about instances, but it would give people with real lives who can't answer their batphone at 3am a chance to experience some end game content.

Sadly this.

It would shut down the rogue epic at least, which is a horrible bottleneck for people trying to quest their own when it isn't bugged.

It's a bad idea. In epic quests you have to rely on other people. In some cases that's them bringing a MQ piece and donating or selling it. As Swish is alluding to, Kedge robes are virtually impossible for rogues to obtain on their own. No one wants them for Phinny and the alternative is killing dark elves once every 8 hours for a week. Buying a MQ for that robe is how virtually every rogue ever quested their Cazic Quill. This is one example among many, many others where your idea would destroy any time saving short cuts and ultimately make the game a worse time sink than it is. This is Everquest we're talking about.

This is the dark reality of the world we inhabit. If you wish to change it, take charge ^^

Epics are not meant to be obtained on their own Cecily. Phinny is needed for many epics so the argument that it's unobtainable seems a bit of a stretch.

remove MQ and make all raid loot no drop. RMT slowed to almost a halt as selling raid loot rights would be a lot easier to track/be more suspicious.
