(Error Code SP-1) Outdated spells file

Hello. I have just installed everything and done everything as said to be done. However when I get to the character creation it gives me this error telling me the spells file is outdated and to go to project1999.com then go to the start guide. However I did not find anything there to help me with outdated spell files. I searched the forums for similar problems, but have failed to find any useful information. Can anyone help me out?

Thank you.

There is a download on the guidebook page. I don't know if images are allowed but I took a screen of the download https://i.imgur.com/upWggUt.jpg

Having said that I am having the same problem as OP is. I downloaded it and extracted it into the file. Not sure what else I am supposed to be doing at this point. I may just reinstall and try again tomorrow.

Try this... Assuming you've installed to the default location, c:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest, try copying your Everquest directory and placing it somewhere else, such as C:\Sony\EverQuest. Once that's done, re-download the v41 patches and unzip them into your EverQuest directory. Update your shortcut to reflect the new patch and try launching again.

And always remember: sometimes you get that error even though everything is fine.

I re-installed it like I said I would and it worked after I just put it in C. I guess it doesn't like program files (x86). The only difference in why it worked was the location from the first install.

Are you saying that we can play normally ever if we get that error? I was in the same position that the OP was and found that if I tried to click on a button to do character creation the button-press occurred on-screen but nothing happened. I had to start over from my backup of the fresh Ti install. I have been incrementally changing things to try and find the cause of the issue. If there is a trick to proceed anyway I'd love to know about it!

Be certain you are extracting the file to the folder and are offered the option to overwrite the old files.
