Hailed Hierophant Oxyn and talked through the quest text. Received the "Component Mortar" container. Put in the two small mosquito wings (unstacked of course), mud crabs (foraged from LOIO), and bone chips in the container and pressed combine.

Result: "You cannot combine these items in this container type."
