XP penalty. What gives?
 

As a novice (I played semi-hardcore from launch until 2001 and then casually from then to 2003) I'm just now learning the little details of this game. One thing the game didn't mention in 1999 was the xp penalty. The creators didn't make it obvious that such a thing was even in the game. This aggravates me a little to find out that this was in the game. I'm not mad...It just makes me love the challenge even more. :D

Hybrid xp penalties are gone at this point, never to return.

Racial penalties are still a thing, but wouldn't affect you as a ranger.

If you feel useless as a ranger, play something else. Not everyone is up to the task of being a ranger!

Yeah, the player community knew that xp penalties existed back in the day on live (both racial and class). That being said, when I started my troll warrior on live, back in 2000, I personally felt that I leveled quicker than the human warrior I had previously deleted. Then again, I was leveling that troll mostly in Upper Guk.

I knew about it back then. I even knew that Troll SKs had the worse penalty of all (matched by Iksar SKs in Kunark).

Don't worry, Rangering is still hard. It's just not soulcrushing....as much.

All penalties are gone less racials, no more -20% for monks and -10% for INT casters!!!

And sure, penalties were known, just specifics were fuzzy for a while me thinks.
