NEWB: How does AE work in groups etc?

I heavily considering coming to this server with a few friends, but we want to know how grouping works in PvP. In particular, how do things like AE spells affect group members? What about on raids?

Do "friendlies" have immunity of some kind or will I AE mez my group as an enchanter?

Try it out ? Why bother posting if it takes 4 seconds to figure out in game

area of effect spells will hit group mates unless they are out of pvp level range

AE groups are still possible if you have decent resists, though

around 80 magic resist will ensure that you'll likely resist AE mezes and AE stuns 100% of the time

i'd say around 140 cold/fire/magic resist will put you mostly immune to cold/fire/magic direct damage AE spells

Look how welcoming they are here, wishing you good luck and thanking you for your comment! Meet the trolls.

Firstly, there is no immunity - AE spells do affect group members and guildmates. However, people put on a lot of magic resistance gear, so in a well-geared group, you can often do magic-based AEs without affecting groupmates. The only thing is, their pets will attack you and they'll have to call them off.

Oddly, I rarely see enchanters use the AE mez. I think people here are much more careful when pulling because an overpull makes you vulnerable to PvP.

Hope you decide to roll here. I love it. My advice: don't shy from pvp and don't take it personally.

Red in EQ is like real life. If your best buddy lights off a stick of dynamite right next to you whether you're in a group or not, you're getting blown the fuck up.
