Necro Weapon 3k Budget
 

I have a quick question for you guys. I'm a level 27 Iksar Necro. Would Staff of the Waterwalker be my best choice for a weapon, or is there a better primary/secondary I can get in that budget?

Staff is definitely very good IMO. HP is king as a Necro and 100hp in your hands is hard to beat. Plus it has that neat IFS graphic.

Cheaper alternative but less ideal would be Stein of Moggok+Cone of the Mystics, then you could use the extra cash for other slots.

I still have Stein of Moggok and Crystal Webshield at 53 because of the limited newbie budget and how little I've actually farmed pp, and because of the hp/mana split. I could've bought the staff you've mentioned at one point, but it provides no resistance bonuses, and that convinced me to save. It was a choice by me -- I still think it's a good item and choice (and cheaper than 3k).

My recommendation: If your only slot needing upgrading is main or secondary, Hand of the Reaper is a fair choice for secondary, at least for the +10MR. And if you're Iksar then the int bonus is nice. Being an erudite, this would be a poor choice for me, specially given (what I think is) the steep price of 3k.

If you're patient, you can save up 2k more and buy a Sorcerous Bowl. Probably the most underrated and underpriced primary for a necromancer at 5k.

If you're NOT only looking for a primary/secondary then I suggest splitting the money among several hp/mana items. There are a lot of cheaper items out there that'll boost your stats over several slots, such as Mask of the Wurms, Embroidered Black Cape, and some HP rings.

Stealing a little bit of attention: What would you guys recommend for a chest item? I still have my flayed skin on. Almost every robe out there is about +int and +mana, something I really need little/no more of.

Nothing wrong with +mana, can never get enough of that.

Shiny Robe of the Underfoot is what most casters go with (for the resists) until they get Velious quested.

keep what you have, buy a CoS, if already in possession of one save up for jboots.

side note, you must've farmed like crazy just having started last November, then having a respectable (no sarcasm) full set of banded and beetle piercer a month later, then boosh 7k at the end of January... most impressive ;)
