Is Donald Trump unintelligent or just dishonest?
He can't really believe the things he says, can he?
|
Have you watched his speeches on youtube and not just the snipits from places trying to bash him?
He makes a lot of sense to me, watch a few of his speeches, it's very refreshing to have someone actually speak his mind and not just read a boring PC speech. I am Canadian btw so I don't even get to vote but I find US politics very entertaining and would vote trump just for the fact that he isn't bought off by special interests. |
i like him

He is smart enough to win unfortunatly.
|
neither, he's an actor.

There's no doubt he's at least moderately intelligent, but nothing special. If you look at the performance of his enterprises, and weigh it with the opportunities he had being born into enormous wealth, he's a very mediocre businessman at best. Honestly I'd be embarrassed to be Trump and campaign on the strength of my business acumen when I know deep down I'm a trust fund baby and there are people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Larry Page out there with actual skill and vision.
He is dishonest. I can only guess how many illegal immigrants he has employed cleaning his hotels. He's not serious about fixing immigration. Build a wall? You can tell when someone isn't serious about fixing immigration when they propose something like that. A wall is powerful imagery, but it's ultimately extremely ineffective. Great Britain has the English fucking Channel and how well does that work for them? A wall also does nothing for the tens of millions that are already here, and trust me, Trump is not going to deport millions of people. States wouldn't cooperate, Congress wouldn't cooperate, and he has no realistic plan to fund such a massive operation. If you want to stop immigration, you have to target the employers that hire them. They don't come here for freedom, they come here for economic reasons, and if that impetus isn't there, they don't come. We saw that when immigration fell off a cliff during the great recession, and we see that as hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees bypass the Balkan states, Spain, and Italy, to get to the thriving socialist Nordic states. But guess what? The employers are, by and large, the people who control the politicians, and they have a vested economic interest in retaining immigrant labor and the resulting wage depression. So the same thing will happen that has been happening for decades; politicians will make a lot of rhetoric about immigration, but they won't do anything that is actually effective, because their corporate owners don't want them to... even though real, substantive immigration reform has bipartisan support among your typical middle class white. I still believe Trump was only running for this election to further his personal brand, as he did in the last election, and he was surprised by his success, which stemmed from the entire Republican field being extremely weak, without a single good candidate, and from wide bipartisan support for tough immigration rhetoric. I agree with some of his rhetoric, but that's all it is... rhetoric. What you have left is a deeply toxic and negative person, which are qualities unfit for presidency. |
I could make the same thread about Bernie, would have a perfect example with his disgustingly transparent muh 14 dollar minimum wage gibs shilling instead of avoiding making any substantive arguments like TRUMP forced you to do with this shitty little thread, and it would be far more relevant. I can guarantee you that Bernstein is aware it's an absolutely idiotic policy to drastically raise the minimum wage when untold/unwashed masses of unskilled, intellectually-stunted Garbage-Americans are already unemployable at the current minimum, but that a pollster employee of his correctly calculated that it would perk up the ears of many dependent welfare queens and give him a shot at the election. Or I could bring up "free libarts education for everyone". vomits in mouth To me, those are real choices between dishonesty and stupidity.
Have you heard the practiced, embarrassingly obvious robodrone everyone but TRUMP lapses into during the debates? They're just repeating the same shit lines their handlers fed them, which they said into the mirror 500 times before the debate in stark terror that they might slip on a word, collapse completely, and lose favor with their masters. They're children studying for a test. Meanwhile, TRUMP is completely destroying people left and right with improvised ripostes and fluid, natural rhetoric from the position of honest comfort and self-confidence that his self-built wealth and power provides. The man is literally the only adult on either stage (other than Hillary, a fully mature adult cockroach of exceptional size). PS: lol @ "mediocre businessman" above. Is that one of MSNBC's talking points this month? |
