Somalian Economy

Et voila.

Estolcles 11-17-2010 10:28 PM

The Somolian Economy would improve if someone took a lot of guns, a couple boxes of food, and just took over the country. Kill those in charge, kill off the weakest, and those that were salvagable, feed back to perfect health, and they'd be dedicated to you for the rest of your or their lives.

Is it ethical? Fuck no.
Is it humane? Fuck no-er.
Would it be worth it? Probably not.
Would you make it into the history books for overtaking and running a country? Yeah.

Good enough reason. :P

A prefect example of an anarchocapitalistic economy. There's a few groups of people that have assumed the role of protection providers, and they are peaceably working out their differences and scope of territory. (just like in David D Freidman's example)

I'm sure as the differing groups work out their differences Somolia will come to be an economic powerhouse, and ideal model for countries in the future.

IMO, David D Freidman's Utopian ideal fails as the human element is added. I would love to believe in the inherent goodness of human beings, but I've been dealing with us for too many years. We are, in general, selfish, petty and lazy. We are always angling for maximum profit for the minimum effort, oh, and fuckall anybody else who gets in the way. Until us humans figure out how to overcome our natural tendencies, the Utopian ideals of pure capitalism, socialism, communism, anarchocapitalism, choose your political concept (or lack thereof), will fall short.

Too bad they don't have enough Jews to blame for their problems, they would have been able to unite behind a strong leader by now. Would have been Time Man of the Year, just like Hitler.

Agreed, Trademaster. I strongly tend towards libertarian/ capitalist values, but I realize that without a check on human selfishness society would devolve into a totalitarian plutocracy.

idk why everyone thinks a centralized government and a completely free market are mutually exclusive, they're not

Yeah. I just noticied the similarities between my plan and Hitler's.

Alas, I'd just be doing it for personal and financial gain. Not because I felt slighted/biased against by a specific sect of people.

Does that make me worse than Hitler? Minus the millions of dead Jews and The Holocaust and a "Final Solution".

SIDE NOTE:

If I did pull this off, and I had converted to Judaism earlier in life like I had planned to, would I still be worse than Hitler?

Worse in the sense of "more dastardly," probably not. Worse in the sense of "more of a failure," probably.
