Ring 8 shitweaselry last 2 nights - an offer
On Sat the 12th of August, a 1-day Omni member called Senies won the roll for the turnin. Just before turnin, his RL brother and Omni app called Whistlefoot entered the turnin tent (ostensibly to do a trade). There was some question of MQ and I'm not sure what's true about that. But two people should NOT have been in the tent at the time. Only the winner.
Apparently, after Chief was killed, someone killed the turnin mob, leaving Senies with Chief's head. Words were exchanged within Omni and between Omni members and Senies and he detagged and was not invited back. ---- Last night, Pally of Taken (don't have a name) won the roll. However, Senies (sans Omni tag) ninja-ed the turnin (which I assume is against server rules), leaving Taken Pally with a Chief head that is essentially useless without another /random win (requiring doing ring 7 all over again). On some level, this isn't my problem in that Senies was not wearing my tag at the time that he truly shit the bed. However, I have a real interest in seeing civility prevail at that turnin. Nobody wants to lose Marching Orders (ring 7, effectively) and it was working pretty well for a couple of weeks. So here's my offer: I have a 2nd set of Marching Orders and, with apologies to those who are still rolling, I will show up every night (for as long as it takes), roll and help with the fight (pull, kill, etc.) and allow Taken Pally to turn in his head on my dime. The decency and civility of that /random and turnin is a worthwhile thing and something that's worth maintaining. And worth it to me to redo the 7th ring. End note: I think that the staff will get involved and move the 8th ring from Senies to the turnin spawner. At least that's the precedent (see Ragefire heart, for example). And give Senies a long (permanent? in my view) timeout. |
I agree with you the one from taken that did it to me the night before should receive what ever i get as well.

Yet another reason I play on Red.

When a player spawns the ring war all mobs involved are his and his alone to touch for 20min as prescribed by the rules on the server. You spawn a mob through a raid or quest turnin they are yours to do with as you please.
Ninjaing someone else's Chief or killing/training/turning in another Chief head and despawning Garadain should be severely punished. Players who have had this happen to them where someone else steals your Chief or kills/de spawns your Garadain really should have the Chief heads in their bags replaced with 8th rings. Expecting them to turn in again and isn't really fair when they did nothing wrong with their quest script. |

I agree it takes awhile, however a response from the staff would be nice.
Because you can't just allow players to kill steal chief, train Garadain or turn in a previously failed war Chief Head to someone else's Garadain. All of those are extreme dick moves because it forces a player to redo Rings 1-7, and they are rather unprecedented because no one was sniping Ragefires before 20min was up, or Lhrancs or Lord RakAshiir, or Efreeti Noble cycle. This just has a much lower barrier of entry to snipe and screw over someone else. And it needs to be dealt with harshly. Those who get their ring events ruined by others really just need to be given the 8th ring given they didn't do anything wrong (IE didn't fail because of their own mistake. |
To avoid introducing any potential for abuse I suggest a stiff penalty for the offenders (perma-ban) and zero reimbursement for victims. It's a sucky situation, but if success is guaranteed for a certain set narrowly prescribed conditions, abuse will follow.
I commend OP for seeking to help rectify the situation though ^^ we need more peeps like this. |
Zero reimbursements is very harsh.
People can make level 1 characters get SoW, aggro Garadain and train him into the orcs and that fails the event. Permabanning those accounts doesn't do anything. There needs to be some sort of reimbursement for players who have their ring wars ruined by other players. It's happening quite frequently and that needs to be covered. This is why instances were added. |
