Phase Spider Carapace
 

So I've spent the last week parked in DN trying to get one of these to drop. So far I've killed 140 of the spiders with no luck. The majority of the spiders I've killed have been from near and around the zone in area. From the research I've done it seems that any spider can drop the carapace. Can anyone confirm this from experience here on P99?

If I had known it would take this long, I would have just farmed the coin to buy one, but these spiders have made it personal. Plus the xp is decent. I really want to ride this out and finish what I've started, but I want to make sure I'm not handicapping myself by mainly killing the entrance area spiders.

Any advice would be helpful!

Magelo says it has a 1% drop rate, and P99 devs have been known to use that data.

That is good to know. Any idea on if it matters on the location of the spider in the zone? I doubt it would, but just want to make sure i'm not missing anything! Thanks for the info.

Have farmed 7 of them as I worked though 58 and now most of 59. Longest streak to get one is 138, shortest is 14. Average of total kills/7 = 61

I have gotten them all from the zone in mobs back to mobs just past the wall - so any spider basicly

That works out very close to the expected 1 per 69 kills you would expect at a 1% drop rate.

Um, at 1% you'd expect 1 per 100 kills overall, with 50-50 odds of getting one in 69 tries (0.99^69 ~ 0.4998).

Well RNG officially hates me. 172 kills now, with no luck haha.

It's actually closer to 1.12% drop rate, going by Magelo's data - they just round down.

Still should have gotten one by 100 kills, but not big enough sample size that he could just be slightly unlucky.
