What happened to root?
Hey everyone. I am coming back to P99 after a little over a year break. I got on my shaman to root/rot some mobs on the 2nd level of CoM and realized quickly that root is completely worthless now.
Was there a change to root spells? Sorry I haven't looked over the patch notes for the past year, I figured it would be easier to ask here. I haven't tried using Enstill yet, would it be any better? I get Paralyzing Earth next level, hoping that is still a big game changer for my class as it was in the past (I was really looking forward to it)! Thanks guys. |
Afaik nothing was changed with root on blue, could just be bad luck

I did a search and found a post discussing how root was changed, and is much less effective now. Was this on red maybe? I just switched to using Enstill over root and it is much better, but there is definitely something changed with the standard root. I used to root/rot 4 darkblues at once in CoM with little to no trouble. I cant handle 3 now because of the coooooonstant root breaks.

They did a lot of changes to magic resist a while ago, which affected roots a lot. Trying to park stuff was brutal for a while, even with MR debuffs. I don't think it's "much less effective now" though.
You used to root/rot 4 mobs with ROOT? That's nuts, given it only lasts 8 ticks at max. |

Np. It'll be even better with PE at 56 :)

I'm currently 47 Druid. My experience with root rotting over the past 2 weeks has pretty pretty terrible. I've never had a single root last to max duration.
In a few levels, at 49, I get Engulfing Roots. Has a 3 minute duration, which would literally change the game for me. Should I be excited, or should I not get my hopes up? |
Weird, my root will almost always last full duration. Are you trying to root high Blues?

Root line of spells used to be very reliable and like never break. Within the last year there was a patch and now it breaks sometimes. Helps to be much higher level than your target.
