Fun Idea I may be running soon (player run Easter egg hunt)

Charm a mob, give it an item worth a few hundred plat that it can equip (a hp/ac ring etc).

Zone or camp out.

Do this a few times - then announce in ooc what items are randomly roaming around the zone.

Let the hunt begin!

Dumb question but will the mob still have the item after someone kills it or will it just drop the items its coded to drop?

If they can equip it, they should drop it. You see enchanters doing this all the time with torches, -MR gear, specific weapons. Give the mob 2 gnoll hide lariats. When you're done with the mob kill it and loot your stuff. If another mob kills your pet - corpse poofs.

This does not work with nodrop items mind you, to my knowledge it must be tradable. I'm pretty sure mobs can equip 1 of each of the following visible armor slots, 1 ring, 1 earring, 1 belt, 1 cloak, 1 mask etc.

Whether certain mob types (animals/bears etc) are restricted to what they can and can't equip - I don't know.

Did you do this? Sounds way more fun than simply handing out items to low levels!

This would be so awesome. Randomly killing Crushbone roamers and find a Mask or Torch on it. That would rock so hard.

I've played around with giving items to mobs and it seems like some of them will always drop what you give them, whereas others simply do not. I'm not talking about equippable things. I of course put sandwiches and things on a few mobs to test this out and I got random results depending on what mob I tried it with.

I did this on a druid and did not charm the mob before I handed the item(s), so maybe it works differently if you charm the mob first?

If anyone knows the logic that drives this I would be interested to know.

In the meantime, I would suggest putting a rusty weapon or some other random item like Beer or water flask on the mob and see if it drops or not before you put something expensive on it.

I use my charmed pets as pack mules. Anything I ever give them whether it is equipment or not, is always loot once I break charm and kill them.

Not only is this possible, but it has already been done several times.

/Salute Troxx for getting ready to do one his/her self!
