Should I come back??

Hail. :D

I played EQ1 since launch and well into the Kunark expansion. My cleric was very well geared and my guild proudly had many server firsts. (Rathe) It was the best gaming experience I have ever had, and I miss it. Oh the stories I have...

I left EQ for Wow (I know, slap me please!) then spent a decade jumping from MMO to MMO to try and find and relive the feeling I had in EQ1 - but sadly I have discovered that I will never get that feeling back with any other MMO....

So here I am... thinking about coming back.... this Project 1999 indeed does seem interesting.

Starting over from scratch is the only negative thing making me think twice about coming back, but it sure would be nice to spawn into the old world again.

I would need a home though!

What do you all think?

You made the effort to post on a forum dedicated to recreating Classic EQ (which it does). There are LOTS of new and returning players.

By your own admission, modern MMOs do not capture the EQ feeling. Although it is daunting starting out again, it's exciting because there are so many lowbies playing. The original spirit is very much alive.

The vast majority of us have more responsibilities and less free time than before. However, there is no rush. Take your time and enjoy the journey.

Now stop dithering, and start obtaining Titanium Ed!

See you in game :)

Just do it.

There's nothing wrong with being a casual or hardcore. Play with what time you have. This game IS EQ pre-easy mode and it's a ton of fun.

As someone who made the game harder than it should be by starting a Necro and getting him to 20. I then decided I wanted to be a Ranger, only to restart that ranger after getting him to 30. I then decided i wanted to start a Barb Shamy. Now i got a 51 Ranger, a 51 Shammy, and i plan on working my Necro up. I'm not sure about the other classes, i played em all on live, but they are not appealing to me this time around, maybe when im tired of these 3 I will start a Druid.

Edit: I rambled on and on, yeah just start playing if you wanna get back to OLD EQ.

Do it

I really do hate the raid scene but I find enjoyment in leveling characters... everyone plays the game differently. Enjoy it your way (tm) :)

Definitely come back,
I have been back about 2 weeks now and having a great time.

Hadn't played EQ since I was about 12, during vanilla / Kunark, at which time I leveled a druid / warr / necro into 20's, would probably have played more but seeing as my parents were both max level and raided every night, I didn't get much chance, but regardless my EQ knowledge was ever growing as I often observed them play, also my mom forced me to buff the raid while she went and made dinner/coffee, child slavery I say, haha.

I too have played just about every MMO out there and while WoW had it's moments during it's launch and subsequent 1-2 expansions, it eventually lost it's way and became a borefest of trivial numbers and ever decreasing social aspect.

I've been on P99 for about 2 weeks now, my dark elf necro is level 22, albeit I'm struggling a bit with leveling right now, I'm easily bored by afk grinding and end up exploring places I shouldn't be at, or exp'ing in places where fearing results in trains, alas, still having a blast.

The reception I've had on the server is amazing, there's far more people in every zone that I visit compared to how live server was when I played there back in the day, I've got like 10 people on my friends list already, I've been given up to 100 plat from strangers and like 10 pieces of gear with decent + stats on them from random friends I've met / people I've grouped with.

I forgot what the term community meant after playing modern day MMO's for so long.

Please come back! The community on both servers are great, regardless of what the more unsavory of forumdwellers would lead you to believe. Besides, another player means another groupmate, guildmate or possibly even friend. Even you, OP!

Now that your self-esteem train is fired up, there's no way you can't join! /evillaugh
