bard and being encumbered

Thanks to PentacleThanks who gave me some bronze gear. I have some gear but I am now encumbered by a few pounds even with my str song going. I can still move around easy. Does this effect me at all? I am only lvl 4 do I get more str as I lvl and did I make a mistake by not add to str at creation?

You won't get STR as you level.

However no you didn't make a mistake by putting your starting stats elsewhere. Through just normal gear you'll eventually get enough +STR pieces to not be encumbered from your weapons and armor.

I guess since I can't use my drum until lvl 8 and I have a horn someone gave me and a lute I got from the bard GM along with my copper and gold pieces. I should put those in the bank that should free up some weight.

Only really hurts run speed, and that will only come into play if you are kiting or need to run from a bad situation.

Delete your copper and silver. Don't pickup rusty weapons. Someone nearby should be willing to give you some plat for spells. If you're on red I can give you some.

And i think you can use your drum at like 4, not 8

you don't really need the bronze,, it's nice at low lvls but inst' exactly stellar stuff... I'd drop the bronze.. once you learn how to kite your not going to need it.. and you'll need the extra weight to actually loot your kills.. If your grouping tlll 60 then stay with the bronze.. if your going to kite drop it..

Ya I have tried kiting and I SUCK at it. Must be because I'm a old school clicker and could never get used to hotkeying

Bronze is a bad idea for bards, period. See if you can trade it for banded instead. As a bard you dont want to put much points into STR as CHA is much more important for your cc. Wait getting plate until you can afford a lighter variety or pieces that has STR to compensate for the weight. I had to do exactly that on my bard.

What he said.

Bronze only gives you marginal ac over banded and weighs a ton more. I got gifted a set of bronze gear and ended up replacing it with small fine plate (more ac and weighs a lot less). Still though, my funds would probably have been better spent elsewhere.

Sell your set of bronze, buy a set of banded gear ... and either save money or invest it in a nice relatively cheap bard weapon set (Sainy's Claw etc).
