I think what he is saying is even if you have /anon on, if someone does a /who all 50 cleric, and you are a 50 cleric, your name will still pop up in the list which shouldn't happen cause that defeats the purpose of being anon.

^ correct.

Isn't there a difference between being /anon and /role?

Most people that raid on this server use /role pretty much 24/7.

Yes, but both are supposed to filter you from the /who all. The difference was you used /anon when you just didnt want people knowing what class/level or what zone you were in. /roleplay accomplished the same thing, however it was created specifically to "roleplay." And in terms of roleplaying, no one is really going to know what you are unless you reveal your class stats to them. IE: you may see someone wearing a robe, so you can deduce that they are some kind of caster, but what? the only thing that would give it away is if you saw them with a pet, or the kind of spells they cast, or if they flat out told you in some way (the inspect dialouge box comes to mind where someone could write a back story about their character for you to read, i usally just wrote in mine "wtf are you looking at?")

Also anon doesnt show your guild tag, roleplaying does.

username17 10-14-2010 12:55 PM

I don't see anything wrong with this.

The main reason for using /anon or /role was to hide what zone you're in.
So others can't track guild movement or whatever.

It still serves this purpose.

no the purpose of /anon is so that druids can get crap done besides sowing and porting people
