New Install and still have Outdated spells

Hiya All. I am trying to get on P99. When I am at Char Login I am getting that my spells are outdated. I have followed the Installation Guide on the Main p99 site and installed 2 times with same outcome. Not sure if I am still doing something wrong or its is this new computer with Windows 8. Am running a AMD A8. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You may be experiencing connection issues, or a random problem connecting to the server itself, sometimes due to this it will give a false report of outdated spell files.

After a few attempts it usually goes through.

And you've updated the spell files to v36, I believe that's the last?

If you installed to the default directory, c:\program files\..., you may want to move your EQ directory out to another directory such as C:\Everquest\... people have reported having problems with EQ residing in the default directory with Win7+.

Make sure your anti virus isnt flagging dsetup.dll file. Put a exclusion in your AV for EQ folder then extract the v36 files again.

I'm having the exact same problem. Brand new install - twice. I followed the guide to the letter. All FW and AV software is disabled. I have the latest P99v36 patch applied.

Thanks for this! This saved me!!!! My AV had completely removed/quarantined the dsetup.dll file from my EQ directory. I re-added it and added an exclusion in my AV. All is well now!

Dude, thank you! My anti-virus was my problem all along. :)
