So, would 'Velious' be a horrible name?

My wife and I are expecting our second child here in the next few weeks (5/3 is supposedly the "due date") and we're having a tough time coming up with names for him that we both really like.

Jokingly last night I threw out the name "Velious" because we're both fans of unique names and my wife is now -really- into it. She's already come up with how she'd nick name him "V" for short and she says it's a front runner for her...

Now, I like it too, but I feel I might be biased and for all the wrong reasons....
I also get that most of you here will also be pretty biased...
but on a serious note, is Velious a good name to have for your entire life? Naming someone is a huge responsibility to me and I definitely don't want to do so lightly...

So I guess what I'm asking everyone is if Velious is a good unique name for a child, or if it's -too- "out there" and I'm just setting my kid up for a really shitty time in life?

Thoughts?

Unless you are The Rock incognito or are imparting similar quality genes to your son...you are just setting him up to get the absolute fuck beat out of him on a daily basis in school.

I get not wanting to name him john smith...but find some middle ground. I think the only way the Stars get away with naming their kid Apple, or platypus or whateverthefuck they do is because they have the money and privilege to smooth the way.

I took flak for being named Vaughn in school (which while rare...it isn't too out there). Thankfully i was ~6' 200lbs by the 6th grade...bullies were never an issue.

Teach your kids that their actions and accomplishments make them unique, not having an ethnic, 90210, or nerd name. Try to achieve more yourselves instead of trying to be special snowflakes vicariously through your kids.

I'd bully a kid named Velious

I probably wouldn't fuck with a kid named Lord Nagafen

Go with that instead
