Grobb Faction - Merchants
 
Is there no way to increase it? The wiki says so. It makes sense I suppose, but makes me sad too...




P.S. Ignore the doppelgänger thread in the newby zone area.... This is the real one...

I looked in to this awhile ago after slaughtering the residents of Grobb and then having pangs of remorse, and unfortunately I don't think there is any way. You can raise the Grobb guard faction (although it's really hard, as there's only a couple mobs in the game you can kill to do so), but AFAIK there is no way to raise the merchants faction.

Sadly I don't think there is anyway to increase troll or Oggok merchant factions.. Apparently the devs thought people wouldn't like going there to buy or sell if they could get their guard faction up which is a shame with Guk so close

I always figured it was more of an RP thing. Like good races are smart enough to understand "Bob the Ogre isn't a bad guy, even though most Ogres are", but Ogres/Trolls are too stupid to ever understand that a squishy good race could ever be on their side.

Of course the fact that you can raise guard factions slightly contradicts that, but given how hard it is (only two named mobs in the entire game give Troll guard faction) I don't think that was a conscious development decision.

Yea kinda like how all trolls are basically welcomed in Neriak aka shouldn't be kos to any of the factions yet Orges aren't really liked in the 3rd gate guilds yet the troll and orges are allies with the dark elves or well... the dark elves figure they can use them

Ah classic EverQuest ... so much potential, but instead of improving on it they had to go make cats on the moon. /sigh

Sucks huge to have to run to Halas to work alchemy.

Inb4 "troll/ogre best sham"

Amen my Barbarian brother. But also don't forget that we can get (some) alchemy components in Firiona Vie, whereas the Overthere doesn't even have an alchemy vendor.

And then Velious (maybe! ha!)will go live and everyone will live in Thurg and you'll have your convenient vendors =)
