New to server, rolled a monk, FBSS or IFS?

I have a level 26 monk, right now i have Quivering staff, and most of the basic starting gear. 5/55 rings, 4 str earrings, white wolf hide cloak, Azure sleeves, drawvarg mantel, bracers of erollisi, and such. Still missing some like, lockjaw hide vest, and such, but I'm starting to think about my first big purchase.

My question is, what should i go for first? IFS, or FBSS? What would do more damage, WQS+FBSS, or IFS alone? IFS would also drop my weight by 5 stone. Right now holding no loot, no money, i weigh 28 stone. Only reason i weigh so much is cause the slots i have not upgraded, have burynai hide from Kurn's, but I'm looking to replace a few slots with no cheap upgrade to cured silk.

I'm hunting in high keep right now, and have around 2500 plat once i sell in EC. Any tips on making more money to buy FBSS quickly as possible? Should i be trying to get deals in EC and resell, rather then let my plat sit idle?

Thanks in advance!

Well FWIW, IFS is about 1/3 the price of FBSS. ^^

You're new to the server and you have all this gear already?

Teach me your ways!

Best way to make plat is to level up.

@Qelyn I am new to server, but I'm not new to EQ, although its been 12 or so years since i played. As to how i got so much stuff, i looked for deals, i hunted in the right places, and i was in the right place at the right time, several times, and i got free stuff.

Been given 3 trance sticks, and a idol i sold for 350pp. I also bought up about 10 trance sticks on my own for 100pp each, resold for 200pp, and in each zone where faction items are won, (left goblin ears/scalps) i make it a point to try to buy cheaply, then resell in EC.

Also, just because your not in EC, does not mean you should stop advertizing what you want to buy/sell. Some of my best deals were found outside of EC. And never pay a lot more then what your originally planned, if someone if offering something outside your range, don't blow your budget, you will find it cheaper if you wait.

Furthermore, PLAN YOUR UPGRADES! I see a lot of ppl buying shit they don't really need, when the better upgrade that will last far longer, is only a few plat away. I took several hours and researched all the monk gear, then i compiled a list of all the gear worth getting, and in what order to get. Well besides IFS and FBSS, not sure what i want to get first...

Think i will look to buy IFS first, if i can find a good deal. Buy at 2k if i can, then save up another 4k, then sell IFS for 3-4k to get FBSS. But i would still like to know what does more damage, quivering staff+FBSS or IFS without FBSS.

"Best way to make plat is to level up." Yes, generally speaking that is true, however, not if you enjoy soloing a good portion of the time. If you do not have the gear, a monk will have a very hard time soloing later on in life. IMO, its worth leveling at a bit slower place, if your making a lot more pp.

Now if i was a caster, or only grouped, i would agree with you. But not with gear dependent monk, and not when i enjoy soloing. I do group as well, but often i cant, because i have to go AFK too often, and i don't want to give myself a bad name by doing so in a group

I was going to suggest that you go to dalnir to get rid of some of that weight, but you said you solo mostly and you would have to wait a while to be able to solo there.

WQS is 23/28 as you know, a FBSS would make it 28*(1/(1+.21)) = 23.14 so it would be 23/23 roughly.

Do an IFS and TBB instead of FBSS. my 2cp at least.

Aye, you should focus on good weapons prior to haste. A good weapon is often better than an okay weapon with haste. Do some math.
