Ranger Starting Stats

So I am working on my 3rd ranger her on p99. I'm curious what players think about the starting points? I've come to realize that STR/DEX are going to be capped. I don't see enough return on stamina to really like it.

I'm debating if Wisdom would actually be a good route to go. Buffing and patch healing can really eat your mana pool up. Anyone ever consider this route with those 20 points? how much mana would i get? how much hp am i actually getting at 60 with 20 stamina? is there a soft cap( i think 120?)

wisdom is nice if you are going to also get wisdom items. having a bigger mana pool can greatly increase your damage potential as well as your utility.

I did 5 str, 5, sta, 5 dex, 5 wis. My stats aren't great, but.. I have a bunch of room for improvement, I guess.

I started a Ranger put 20 into str and took him to 30. I am one of those people that doesnt like to make mistakes, so when i took a hard look at my Ranger i decided to restart and put all the 20 into dex. Why you say, well there are a lot of str items, dex items are scarce. I never regretted doing it, but i still question weather stats mean anything in this game, supposedly dex makes Bows hit harder, i cant say i have seen a great increase. But we are Rangers and i guess we just have to grin and bear it.

I dunno. As someone with a pretty well geared ranger, all my stats have massive room for improvement regardless of what my initial stat distribution would have been. I don't think 20 STR is a bad idea, as I have a difficult time capping it still.

WOW! Cecily you have some amazing stuff.

How is dex going to be capped? Unless you get a primal, I don't see that happening.
Wisdom and stamina will give low returns.
If I had to do it all over again, I would still put points in str and dex at the start.
I quite like dex for our slow procs, and want to mess around with trueshot in Velious.

Hey Cecily i was thinking about making a ranger and wonder if u can help me get started i'm new to classic EQ i have no friends or connections in this server thanks

Probably the only thing I can do to help is give you a word of caution. It's the most difficult class to get to 60 in Kunark, and I personally didn't touch it until I could twink the ever living hell out of mine. Zal's my favorite character atm, but just know it's very difficult to level one with the hybrid discrimination we have on P99. The 40% exp penalty will go away eventually in Velious and we'll get animal fear to provide some additional solo options, so it's not completely hopeless. Rangers are fun and I wish you good luck and perseverance if you go with the class.

I distributed evenly Dex/Str. I highly doubt your starting stats are going to make or break you come Velious. I sure as hell would not have started over from level 30 because of initial stat allocations, unless I dumped it all into CHA or INT (circa 1999).
