Favorite Mobs

Wondering what everyone's favorite mobs are in this fine game. I'm a permanoob so I can't expound on dragons and giants and gods (perhaps this should be two questions: favorite mundane mob and favorite boss-type mob; I do enjoy the concept and design of Cazic Thule), but I've always been a fan of the undead in this game. Whether it's skeletons with their mad cackle, zombies with their hoarse scream and squishy hit sound, or the novelty undead rat, the undead in EQ are pretty well-done graphically and audio-wise. I don't have a hard-on for undead usually, but these are pretty rockin'.

My favorite monster used to be the ghoul. The appearance is grotesque, the wheezing scream is chilling, the root is a nice touch. But today my newly-15 cleric (now 16) ventured into Unrest, which I'd spent minimal time in back in the day - I'm kind of making it a mission to level him in Faydwer exclusively or at least as much as possible. And what mob became the new apple of my eye? The jack o lantern.

I'd seen these guys a couple of times before, maybe, but it was either a hazy memory of sneaking around with my rogue back in the day, or it was that one jack o lantern that stands around in Rivervale. And, well, nothing is terribly scary in Rivervale. But the jack o lanterns in Unrest won my heart. Between their glowing faces, their puppetlike prancing animations, and their awesome screams and cackling, I've got a new favorite mob. And my cleric has a new favorite nuke target. ;)

Mummies and zombies. The crunching sound they make when you get a good hit in is awesome.

Plane of Mischief

I came to P99 knowing one day I'd see old Plane of Mischief again. :)

Favorite Mobs are all there... The puppets were my favorite. To this day I wonder if the puppet show event had a meaning.

Bristlebane used to comment during it the Cazic-Thule puppet was missing and it was his favorite. :) I think the implied joke was that the god of fear had stage fright! :D

...?

Also, my favorite mobs are cyclopses. They just look so funny and have such amusing names (Choon, Froon, Proon, Droon, Mroon, etc.)

edit: and I must say, guards look pretty cool too - I like how they all have a unique look that players themselves can't get. I also like the way that most guards of different races have different ranks, like Dragoon, Bouncer, Slayer, etc.

Klandicar, the weird face-paint dragon chilling at the entrance of Dragon Necropolis in Western Wastes. The lore was cool as heck, he had some awesome dialogue... Folks were just busy saying: "He's the guardian of dragon necropolis (<-- WRONGWRONGWRONGWRONG) who does this and that AE and has so many hp and so hard max hit and drops these phatz". No one apparently hailed him and asked him what he's gonna go kill himself for. (hoh, found his dialogue even: http://www.thesafehouse.org/forums//...96&postcount=5)

And ogres in general, especially the city of Oggok. It's a huge sodding tavern!

If we're talking mob models, probably the brown lizardmen (ie. allizewsaur, later in revamped CT these were everywhere in the temple and they were THE BIG NASTIES). Probably because I had always just killed broodlings and scouts and junk that were colored green, so a brown one with black tattoos (or patterns, meh) was all new and neat.

lols.

Although, Tork... I encountered a little problem the other day. Remember when we discussed handing in items to these two gentlemen come velious? Apparently there's a restriction on the client side that prevents you from handing items to a banker now.

Splitpaw Gnolls. The blue ones from BB are silly looking when held up to their cousins from South K.

Seeing quillmane was always nice since he was rare and had a unique model.

One of the ntov dragons, lady miranelli or whatever her name was. The one with the teeth!! She was cool too.
