having trouble... I can log in to a server but, when I get to the charater select screen the screen is mostly black except for the create a charter slots.. please help.. kicks me out after about thirty seconds.

Check with thtech forum? Are you using the un-patched titaniumt client with the latest v36 updates from here at p99?
