I hope a lot of Bards out there would benefit from this list. I have not seen any chart or list of mobs out there with their running speed, so i figured i could at least participate on what i have found. This list is actually from where i leveled my Wood Elf Bard. If anyone else have anymore starting zones with their experience on running speed please post them so i can add them to the list above.

Edit 1: Added in Kunark Rhinos, edited Orc Legio/Emiss, Added Centaurs and Aviaks in SK, added Generic Beetle and Scarabs, added .9 speed for beetles and scarabs.
Edit 2: added in Drolvargs
Edit 3: Added some Lake of III omen
Edit 4: Added South Karana Cyclops and Gnolls
Edit 5: Added Firiona Vie Drolvargs and Frogloks

Beetles in NK are slower than the things you listed in RS1.

I think griffons are faster than cats/wolves; I was unable to get away from them in the teens even with MM drums and selos. Griffons and kunark rhinos are perhaps the same speed? Rhinos are faster than jboots, I know.

I haven't tangled with any giants to comment.

SoWed mobs can be very fast, but they also might not be. A level 9 shaman mob casting sow isn't the same as a level 40 sarnak in BW, I don't think. Those orc legionnaires and the sarnak flunkie you thought were RS2 probably had a low-level SoW from one of the orc casters or sarnak enthusiasts.

Centaurs in SK seem to be about like rhinos. It was hard to outdistance one at 23 with drums and selos. And aviak egrets seem to be damn fast too nowadays. An egret was keeping up with jboots+strafing just now. But the other aviaks (darter, rook, harrier, avocet) were slower, probably RS1.

Nice post though. I actually was thinking about doing something similar a couple days ago, but I'm not enough of a go-getter :)

Just started to mess with a bard and had the same experience. Level 13 bard with MM drums and I agroed a low level griffon in my beetle round up then had to strafe to get distance on him because he was still attacking me when I auto ran straight to get away.

Err... do you mean "drolvarg's have a larger hitbox" or "drolvarg's have a longer reach?"

Typically a larger hitbox means an NPC can be hit from farther away, not that the NPC can hit YOU from farther away. I'm just confused by which you really mean.

Anyway. I tested on some drolvargs in FV just now and managed to land 8-10 denon's without getting hit, and then I landed a chords as well. They may have somewhat longer reach, I'm not positive, but if it is any longer it isn't drastically longer or it seems like you would never be able to land chords without getting smacked.

Did you Selo with the Drolvargs? If so, maybe RS2 fits the speed?

No no, drolvargs are RS1. We were talking about something else.

There's no distinction between these two concepts in EQ.

Maximum melee range is the same for both attacker and defender, calculated from the size of the larger of the two.

pretty sure the cats in overthere run the same speed as the cockatrices and succulents

at least they did 2 years ago when i leveled a bard through there, not sure if they changed the runspeed on them since then

I think they did a big revamp of run speeds fairly recently. Almost everything used to be the same speed, and only something like a rhino or that named griffon in NK was different. I've been AEing with my bard the last week or so 2-25 so far and the stuff in this thread is accurate nowadays though.
