I used to rock climb with a guy who did that shit. He said the guy that would change the beacon light would get a bonus in their crew :)

I know it's impractical most of the time but it's pretty nerve wracking how much they seem to not be protected or clipped in while climbing.

Wow! I'd rather jump out of air planes. At least then you have a parachute, and it's quick. That...wow.

It seems like it would be more efficient to base jump when they're done.

How much do they get paid doing that shit? One would hope a lot but I bet they don't get anything extra for that danger =\
