Rather than buy one, get two. There are times when I want to land tash as fast as possible, so I dual wield it. I even remove my epic to have two equipped when I need a fast tash.
Other weapons I recommend carrying around as a bard that you can get outside of VP:
Guardians Mace: Highest DPS and the proc buffs you and stacks with most buffs.
Melodious Truncheon: Mezzes mobs and interrupts all mobs even if mob can't be mezzed. Supposedly unresistable so you can even interrupt raid targets that are casting. Downside is that it has like 1% chance to memblur, which I don't believe is correct based on the classic timeline. This can be dual wielded as well...but probably not that necessary unless you want to look cool with two lutes.
Symphonic Saber: If you are pulling too much aggro in a group and tank can't hold aggro, this proc reduces your threat level. Sometimes useful.
Trochilic's Skean: Best aggro weapon a bard can have when a bard needs to tank. Also useful when fear kiting as it stuns the mob momentarily when it procs.
Jagged Blade of Mourning: Although not at as good of DPS as the guardians mace, it has extra AC, Dex, and +10 MR. Probably the best in slot offhand for a bard outside of Veeshan's Peak. I always swap this in after my Guardian's Mace has procced. Although it does not have as many stats as the Edge of the Nightwalker (EoN), I would argue it is way better due to the +10 to MR that the EoN does not have.
If you don't have epic, Breath of Harmony is best in slot primary, and Harmonic Dagger is useful for stun when tanking or fear kiting. I would recommend hanging onto Breath of Harmony even after you get epic because "supposedly" the epic will still add instrument modifiers when equipped in the offhand in a later patch in Velious (Currently, it does not.). This means you'll be able to get the right click effect of the Breath of Harmony while also wielding the epic and getting all its benefits...awesome.
