No eqclient.ini ....

Hello all, new here but not to the game lol. Anyways I seem to not be able to find my eqclient.ini in my eq directory and it's irritating me very badly... Can't change to my screen resolution rofl. Anyways, if anyone knows anything I don't (which is HIGHLY possible) please give me a hand. Thanks.

P.S. I'm running windows 7

It should auto generate once you've logged in at least once. After that, you can log out and play with it to your heart's content.

Still nadda after playing for a few hours... Weird.

If you've installed EverQuest to C:\Program Files, then you'll find your EQClient.ini located somewhere in C:\Users\YOURNAME or C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData. Programs cannot create new files in Program Files as a matter of security, so they are redirected to the user profile directory.

To extend my original post:

If you would like screenshots, INIs and other client-generated files to be retained in the EverQuest directory, you must alter the properties of every executable in the EverQuest directory to run as an administrator. Alternatively, you can disable User Accounts Control (UAC), which disables this protection system-wide.

I don't generally advise that users disable UAC, as it provides a rather decent level of security, but advanced PC users may find their Windows 7 experience altogether less annoying with UAC shut off.

^this. OR, just don't install in Program Files. Install in c:\eq. Or c:\p1999.

Or do like me and have it (and your screenshots, logfiles, etc.) on a flashdrive on your keychain (f:\p1999 ftw). This way you can quickly and easily play on another machine with nary a hiccup.

Grrrrr... I don't have appdata either... Screw it, I'ma reinstall into C:\P1999. THANKS GUYS!

You do have AppData; itt's a hidden folder, however. To access it, you need to physically add \APPDATA to the end of C:\Users\YOURNAME and hit enter.
