how do i bard?

if i wanted to roll a bard what race should i opt for and how should i spend my start points?

Not really a huge deal for bards. There are a lot of arguments to be made for which stats are most important and it boils down to no stat being incredibly important. DEX and CHA help with avoiding missed notes (fizzles) when twisting songs. CHA helps with lulls and mezzes (some debate about mezzes using CHA, maybe? not sure). STA gives you HP, but not a lot of HP. STR improves your melee damage but you don't do a lot of melee damage anyway.

Personally I'd go DEX/CHA but I'm sure others would tell you to do it differently.

Estu is right. You really can't go wrong with race choice. I would recommend a human if you like their armor. You can get an illusion dark elf mask very easily, so human night blindness isn't a big issue.

Most people choose half elf because of the helmet graphic, but play what you want.

So 10 cha 15 dex?

15 cha 10 sta or 15 sta 10 cha

Race doesn't really matter, stat-wise I'd go human but I also don't play humans. I went half elf, sometimes I wish I'd gone wood elf just because I don't see as many.

Definitely go 15 sta and the other 10 is up to you, even str to help a bit with the plate armor is fine. And gear for hp/sta/resists. And be a dungeon tank bard.

WISDOM. All Wisdom.

(Wisdom is the only stat that is completely useless to Bards).
