Elemental Illusion Faction

Using Elemental Illusions should make you KoS to basically every playable race NPC. First time I realized this was on EQMac using the Form of Protection clicky from PoTime (the Forms originally illusioned you depending on the type).

This was the same deal when my enchanter on Mac would illusion elementals (like Water for PoWater, I'd forget I had it on when going to a classic zone and get wtfaggroed).

Now for the classic evidence:

Everlore 2000

I don't know how people can turn into an elemental in town and not get KOS! Whenever I play with my forms, especially elemental, in a town, every guard and merchant makes a straight run for me with weapons swinging.

I do NOT recommend trying to 'play with newbies' in towns. On the other hand... in areas where elementals are more common (like Najena)... it is fun.

So I went and bought this spell and wanted to try it out right away so I memed it and casted it on myself and everything seemed to be going fine. I turned into the earth elemt right infront of the NPC who sold it to me. Next thing I know a sentinal comes up and beats the living crap out of me and I die. Does it make sense that in your own guild where you by a spell if you cast it on yourself things attack you?!?! That really sucked. Make sure you don't be in a hurry to cast in while your in that city. The guards do attack. Also: In FP the guards WILL attack you if you use this spell. I found out the hard way with that also. This spell is good when you are encumbured and need some extra weight allowance. I use it alot for that reason alone.

Do not use this spell in Felwithe. I was impressing a newbie and running around. Well tried to bank and suddenly was getting slashed for 96 damage repeatedly. Was like WTF!! Well evidently this illusion is KoS to guards. Maybe everybody knew that except me or maybe I'll save one life with this post.
Caster's Realm 2001 - Air

Quote:

A word of caution. Before you use this around guards, get out of range and then cast the illusion. Then con the guard. I've been killed a couple of times in Freeport and Halas by guards who did not like me after I cast this illusion. Grublite Level 30 Enchanter Innoruuk

tl;dr These illusions made you KoS in every starter city. They did have benefits, like the Water Elemental Illusion makes you non-KoS to aqua goblins:

EQ Caster's Realm 2001 - Water

You'll con indifferent to the water gobbies that wander around Dagnor's Cauldron. So if you have to afk or med, you can use this. Lasts longer and more reliable than Invis.
Now, if we could only do something about that stupid Scalded Rat...
I'd imagine it follows for ice goblins and fire for fire goblins, but don't have any quotes at this time.

Yeah exactly. Ignite bones would cause guards to aggro on someone if it landed (fixed at some point).

I'm kos in every city with Ele illusion on already...

Why the but report? What cities are exempt (will admit I haven't tried it in ALL the cities but I'm sure others will back me up).

Daldaen 08-19-2014 12:02 AM

Pretty sure I had air elemental illusioned in Felwithe and Kaladim with no aggro.

I know that old guides for the mystic cloak quest suggest using an earth elemental illusion potion for I believe the felwithe turnin (if not the erudin one, can't remember).

Daldaen 08-19-2014 09:09 AM

Interesting... I agree with you because I recall reading that when I did Mystic Cloak on my wizard...

It's possible that it just makes you KoS to all city guards, since that's what it sounds like it aggroing people in the posts above.

Ya should be with the "guard factions".

Here ya go

Elemental, wolf, skeleton and imp forms are not welcome in many towns. Check your factions carefully before you use an illusion form near NPCs who are not normally hostile. Target one of them and move far away to test the spell.

Daldaen 08-19-2014 02:15 PM

True that. Wolf and Skeleton too.

However as stated previously, those illusions would make you friendly in normally unfriendly places like Brownie village in LFay.

I'll dig up some wolf form quotes later tonight.

Nirgon 08-19-2014 02:20 PM

ight want to confirm if this applies to pets taking these forms too.

This is a tough dig... good luck :).
