Everquest won't update spell files V33! Please help!

So my buddy is on windows 8, he has a clean copy of everquest everything loads fine until it get to the ent world area with character list.

I personally updated his files to V33 but it still shows up on the character choose screen as spell files are old please update

anyone have any clues or fixes?

i want to say his antivirus might be eatting up his dsetup.dll file. Add that file thats in his EQ folder(or in the patch if its gone from the folder) to the exclusion list for whatever anti virus he has.

He did have an AVG which was pinging a .dll file as a virus...so I deleted the AVG from his computer, restarted and then re-did V33 and EQame

Still the same damn problem

I am having these problems too. All of my security is down, but I cannot get the folders to copy over. DSetup.dll is sticking around now but when I log in it says that my spell files are outdated.

I have the same problem and haven't found a solution. If anyone figures out how to fix this, let me know please.

Same here. I fixed the Dsetup.dll problem... Got all excited when eq loaded and I got all the way to the character login screen... just to be let down </3 /sob

I had the same problem. I had to reload dsetup.dll into my c:\windows system32 file and also because I have 64 bit into my c:\windows syswow64 file. also I had to reinstall my p99files33. that's when I found that Nortons was calling the dll file a trojan2 worm and excluding it. I went into Nortons and made it ignore the dsetup.dll file and the next time I tried to load emu it worked fine good luck to you all and I hope this works for you
