New to Project 1999!

Hi All,

So many EQ memories, this has been a great experience. I played from classic EQ through PoP (level 75 I think?) Had a looot of hours logged in. I now have my game all set up in Wine (mac player), and I'm debating what character to play (and where to start!)

Classically, I played a monk, and this is still an attractive option with some solo capability and feign death for exploring. If this is the case, I'm debating between Freeport and Qeynos. I am far more familiar with Freeport (this is where I leveled many characters), but that also makes exploring the low level dungeons near Qeynos an attractive idea.

Which is more active on Project 99? Qeynos or Freeport area?

Alternatively, I was thinking of a DE necro ... but I always hated their starting zone ; ) How active is this area for finding partners?

Hope to see some of you in game!

Freeport is far more active since EC is the trading hub. The Qeynos area seems rather empty a lot of the times since it's so far removed from the rest of the world.

Neriak/Nektulos are very good areas since again, they're next to EC and Neriak is a pretty cool city.

Although most people will tell you on this server if you want a Necro, go Iksar or don't bother.

Thanks for the quick reply! This is very useful information, thanks for confirming my fears with Qeynos.

Although I don't understand why Iksar only necro?!

Because of Iksar regenerative capabilities. I think most places you start, if you're playing at a normal time, you'll be able to find someone to group with if you want. My paladin is from Qeynos, and he didn't venture away until Unrest.
