OS for Eq
 

Created a new computer wanted to know If anyone is running EQ with windows 8? Is there any problems with it running an older game like EQ?

I have ran it on win8 but not recently, I think I was using Rain of Fear client too

iirc just ran it as admin (was a zipped eq folder not an iso install) so was p easy to set up at least for a more recent client.

Could always do a "run in compatibility with" win7 or xp or something would be my guess.

admittedly I haven't had much experience on a win8 comp I usually run 99 on my winxp desktop but can confirm I've at least ran an eq client on 8

it runs fine in win8.. couple crashes every now and again but overall nice

Will I still be logged in during that crash?

I run on Win 8.1 and have not experienced any crashing

the only times it ever crashes on me is on zones or if i try to fullscreen

Win8 and never crash. I often DC when zoning and stuff, but I don't think that's Win8-related.

So in order to play I need to run in compatibility mode?

You can try it without running it in compatibility mode and see if it works for you

I didn't use any compatibility modes when I ran it on 8.1

Ran just fine.
