Bard Strafe Kiting - Run speed issue

I have been strafe kiting in Lake of Ill Omen for a few levels. I don't use Selos in the AOE, just for pulling.

This weekend I noticed that strafe kiting no longer works. The mobs would hit me now and again.

A few other bards noticed this as well. Anyone know if this was a server issue or if they did some kind of patch?

I am unsure, but its not terrible to start using sells in kite, just don't use drums and its a good speed. It is what I did on my bard. However thinking about it now I have been getting hit while strafing on some of my alts more than normal.

I use SoW potions when kiting.

I use selos to pick up a train, then SoW for kiting... But I don't strafe, I just tap turn.

I prefer to strafe kite. I am not a big fan of tap kiting, but that is just because I have not given it much time...

Plus, those those SOW pots are a bit expensive for a lvl 24 :P

100 plat for 5 hours of SoW

If you loot your swarms and sell the vendor trash you will easily recover that :).

True...but that 100 plat feeds my lowbie alt addiction :P

Can selos for sure that's just one more thing to bother with. And you need to toy with instrument/no instrument and your character weight so that you are running at the correct speed.

Which mobs specifically were hitting you? Were they sarnaks? Because I believe sarnaks have a bigger hit box.

You may want to consider using two macros, each twisting a cast of selos and a cast of one of your two dots. It keeps your run speed up as well as dpsing your mobs down, and all you have to worry about is watching to make sure you're at the right range.

There's a thing on the wiki somewhere that will tell you what the macro should say, but each of them will look something like this:

/stopsong
/cast 3
/pause 30
/cast 5
/shout BARD IN ZONE, KITING ALL UR MOBS, PLS DON'T HATE

I did notice on Saturday that I was getting dangerously close to getting hit. But if I remember correctly, it was only the sarnaks. I decided to not pull any in OT since they're mainly all light blue now anyway, and had 0 issues last night. Funny thing is, for 4 levels I had pulled all the sarnaks I could find and never had an issue. Weird.

That is weird. Had you moved zones? Like for those 4 levels were you in LOIO and then you moved to OT? Because I'm pretty sure as the zone levels get higher, so do mobs' run speeds which is one of the reasons by the time you get to BW bard kiting is generally too much of a horrible pain in the ass to deal with
