Problem logging in..

Basically, I get to the login screen (Username & Password entry screen), type in my info then hit connect.. It gets stuck loading...

I noticed by following the 5 steps by EQEmu, that you change the eqhost.txt file to go to the EQEmu server... is this the correct server for Project 1999 as well? if not, what is the correct input?

Project99 is accessed through EQEmu's log in server, so yes, you should have the correct hosts file.

Are you saying that the client freezes when you try to connect to the server select screen or that it just keeps trying to connect with no end in sight? Need some disambiguation on the word "stuck"...

What client are you using? That doesn't look like the Titanium client, and EQEmu/P1999 only works with Titanium. See the setup guide for more info on where to get the Titanium client.

Yes, it is the titanium client, as DL'd via piratebay.org ... I just also downloaded the UI changes and login change to give it the more "classic" feel.

Ah, ok. Fair enough.

Let's start troubleshooting that connection, then.

Try doing a traceroute on eqemulator.net and let's see what we get.

Also, make sure that port 5998 is not being blocked by Windows Firewall or used by any other applications. Turn Windows Firewall off if you can and feel comfortable doing so. If you have a router, check the port forwarding settings to make sure port 5998 is being forwarded to your computer's IP address.

Did you have a EQ Live version of EQ installed on the computer before? If so, you may have old files from that installation mucking up the Titanium install. Uninstall Titanium and make sure absolutely every EQ file and folder is deleted from the install directory and then reinstall.

I also found this on the EQEmu FAQ:

I can get to the login screen, but I get an error saying that the connection timed out when I try to log in.
Either the login server is down, or more likely you need to adjust your eqhost.txt file as described in the play guide. Make certain that there are no extra spaces or carriage returns in the file. Also make sure you didn't accidentally save the file as eqhost.txt.txt or it won't work at all. Also, if you are trying to use EQEmu with an EQLive (Patched) installation instead of directly from the Titanium or Secrets of Faydwer Disks without patching, you will get a connection timed out error as well. In this case, though, it takes considerably longer before the error pops up after trying to log in. When the problem is with your network connection, the LS, or your eqhost.txt file, it should only take about 30 seconds or less to return with the error. But, if you are running a patched version of EQ, it can take minutes before the error pops up, if it ever does at all.
