Bulthar Trunks

It is working properly, I just turned in two normal "Bulthar Trunk" and
received a Fire Emerald.

The first time I got a Runed Othmir Spear and thought that was interesting. Now I understand I probably turned in two Herdleader trunks.

This is the guaranteed reward for turning in the "Herdleader's Trunk" which drops from this mob. http://wiki.project1999.com/A_Bulthar_Herdleader

So I killed a few more Bulthars and got tusks that wouldn't stack with each other.

Upon identifying them I found that "A Bulthar" is dropping the "Herdleader's Trunk" more frequently than normal trunks. Herdleader trunk should only drop from the named Bulthar.

So they look the same, but the regular bulthar trunks are stackable, and the herdleaders trunk isn't stackable, and the herdleaders trunk is dropping off of normal Bulthars and not just the named herdleader?

Right, Herdleader trunks do stack, but should be turned in 1 at a time.

They look the same, and weigh the same, but different item numbers.

So the only way you can tell them apart is by identifying? The non herdleader trunks... what quest is that? I thought it was Ulthork tusks that were the gem turn in.

Right now yes, regular "a Bulthar" should only be dropping one kind of trunk, not both.

The two kinds are both stackable, but not with each other.

noticed i had a herd leaders trunk in my bag before it is gone now i only have the regular one. will let you know if this changes but doubt i can solo a unsnareable mob (herd leader) at lvl 53
