Gem drops from Mino's?
 

I read somewhere on these forums, can't remember exactly, that the Mino's in steamfont drop gems that sell for around 20p per. I was curious as to the validity of this statement as it was a post from around 2010-11ish I believe. Are these gems still worth that much? And if so which ones specifically are worth 20pp?

Those look to drop gems on P99. Looks like peridots are the highest gems they drop and those sell to merchants for about 10pp iirc. The rest of the gems look to be in the few gold to 2pp range at most. Also don't look to have terriblely high drop rates (0.2-5%), but the chance for gems and battle axes (3pp resale to vendors) can make it an okay camp, especially if they give you exp (these minos are level 11).

Yeah I have been camping them for a few hours so far. Pretty good XP. Axes are fairly common, but I still have yet to run across a gem that vendors for more than 1g. So it would appear that the higher priced ones are fairly rare. Thank you for the reply.

Rare, but the Hero dropped a black pearl for me the other day.

Slavers will also drop black pearls and opals (16-18p)

you get a black pearl, a dot, once ever 15 kills or so from the named, the normal low lev slavers maybe once every 30-40 kill or so.
I've spent alot of levs there on most of my chars.

It's a great alternative area to Crushbone that's for sure, see if you can kill that scumbag Meldrath for me :D

One of my favorite memories from live was farming mino axes for 5pp each(!!!!) from the low level ones shortly after launch. We thought we were rich. I brought a full set of banded from that.

Damn that mino hero was scary too. He would periodically run out of the tunnel and just annihilate people.

This looks like a pretty accurate list to me. Have also
seen black pearls (as mentioned) and emeralds also, if I recall.

Love that spot next to LFay zone line...single pulls/close to zone,
just can't beat it.
