Phone plan, F AT&T

I have the unlimited data plan with att. I was told by them today that despite paying almost $200 for 2 phones, I can't have a mobile hotspot. Really getting sick of this shit.

verizon costs me 260 for 4 phones we have more then enough data to cover all 4 phones and that includes me playing EQ off my mobile hot spot at work

I want the plan you're on. I however don't want to pay the close to $600 att is demanding if I cancel.

Nocsucow 03-10-2014 01:04 PM

i think verizon will help you pay it if you switch

Same deal for me. If you have grandfathered unlimited data, they won't allow tethering.

What do you mean "allow"? Android + Rooted Phone = tethering I thought? At least that's the way it is for me on Verizon, but I'm not on an unlimited plan.

You can jailbreak your iPhone and download a hotspot app from Cydia. That's what I did anyway and it works like a charm.

I use an iphone 4s with page plus cellular for $12/month. The catch is, it's 3g only, thus the reason I'm still on the 4S phone.

Verizon lost a lawsuit a few summers back & I can hotspot using FoxFi ($8 app) without rooting.

From what I read, if they (AT&T) discover you used tethering with unlimited data, you will get a letter stating the following:

Quote:

"Our records show you tethered your device but aren't subscribed to the corresponding plan. If you called us in the past few days to subscribe to one of the required DataPro 5GB for Smartphone plans described below, you may disregard this letter. If not, then to bring your account up to date, we have automatically enrolled you into one of the following of our DataPro 5GB for Smartphone plans, and you'll soon see this change reflected on an upcoming bill statement"
And it cancels your unlimited data, which you can't get back. Haven't tried it, since I have a mifi for work. If there's a way around this, I'd probably do it.
