black screen when launching
 

Hi, I have reinstalled the game a few times already making sure I followed the installation guide each time, and when I launch the game, it just shows a black screen.

I have made sure the eqg files that shouldn't be there aren't, made sure I extracted the zip in the right place, and set the shortcut to run in admin with compatibility on. Still no dice.

The only thing I haven't tried yet is not installing into program files. Could that be the issue? or maybe it's a multi-core issue? I am running on an i7 on win7 64-bit. Not sure what to make of this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions/fixes to resolve this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you playing with dual monitors? If so you have to download wineq2 or play in windowed mode.

I do have dual monitors, is that the reason? Is there a post/guide on how to setup wineq2? I tried installing it but when I ran it, it asked me to login. Do I have to setup an account somewhere

I am running dual monitors as well and have been trying to fix this black screen with cursor login hangup. I have done all the steps listed above as well.

Personally i just run in windowed mode. Never used wineq2.

So how do I do that? I looked under properties for that option but didn't find it.

I also install wineq2 and logd in but no UI for it showed on my desk top and it just says wineq2 is already running.

nvm, just turned off my 2nd screen and it automatically loads in windowed mode

Hit alt+enter to get into/out of windows mode for future reference. Also can go into Eqclient.ini and change the setting.
