Quad Core Launching

Hey Folks -

My friend has a pc with 32-bit windows xp and a quad core processor.

Now, i know there is a thread explaining how to fix quad core issues in game, however - our dilemma is that the game isn't even launching.

When we click on the shortcut, the screen goes black for a second, but then we get the shutdown error "eq game has experienced a problem"

We never get beyond that point.. Has anyone experienced this and do you know if wineq2 will fix this?

We haven't had a chance to try wineq2

Have you tried disabling one of the cores (it's part of the guide)? The reason I ask is because this is exactly what was happening to my friend. He disabled one of his cores and it works perfectly.

Nope - we have not tried that. I suggested it, but he was somewhat dubious to that idea because he's very cautious when it comes to changing stuff like that. I'll let him know that it might work.

I had the same issue - I believe.. I just tried WinEQ2 and it worked fine - it's at least worth a shot.

So we fixed it last night - apparently all he had to do was change his monitor resolution =p

It's usually the simplest fixes that one never thinks of.

Thats usually a video issue, not a quad core issue. Edit eqclient.ini and make sure the resolutions are set right, the Options screen doesn't support new funky widescreen rezzes...
