Project 1999 wants to go public; you are lead market design... What is your tag-line?

Mine would be something like:

"How would you feel about reliving the glory days of the greatest MMORPG ever made?

Well set your clocks back fifteen years time... This is Project 1999."

Actually UO was the foundation for every MMO not EQ but you get points for coming in second.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meridian_59 (September 1996)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_online (September 1997)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everquest (March 1999)

UO's development cycle likely overlapped with Meridian's, but Meridian beat them to the punch by a full year.

Everquest's development cycle was well under way by the time UO released, starting sometime in 1996. That's not to say they didn't pull ideas from UO, but it was hardly the foundation. I'd argue the real "mmo foundation" is a combination of these three games, with the majority coming from EQ.

Also,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD#DikuMUD

^The first real MMO, along with its respective spin-off code bases, and the prior code's released before it (but DikuMUD was the first base that really felt like an MMO, in my opinion). Without this, it's unlikely anyone would have even tried making a GUI MMO to begin with.

Project 1999 tagline: "You're in our world now"

MMO - 100,000 players...
UO - 1st..
EQ - Second
Meridian - Never..

I think Daoc actually would be third.

Well they did get in trouble for allegedly stealing code from DikuMUD

As for the tagline... Project 1999: Pixelated Nostalgia
