Lagging unless I open my bags...
Sounds weird, but when my character is running I am severely slowed down unless I open my bags. Sometimes I'll open and close them a few times and that helps, but it definitely stops lagging when the bags are open.
I've tried every reduced setting and background closures but nothing seems to improve this strange event. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated! Thank you! |

In all seriousness, never heard this. OS? Titanium? Red or Blue? Current Encumbrance? Spell files updated? Replaced zone files correctly? Bags full or empty? Types of bags? List of all items contained in bags? Country you are connecting from? |
I wonder if this would have any impact, on all those players having trouble with Trakanons Teeth lagging them to the point of LD any time they zone in, on a random basis to boot!

when you stare at the ground, does it have the same effect as opening all your bags?

Thank you for the responses!
I use 2 traveler's backpacks, 1 shralok pack, carry a sewing kit, and usually have 1 or 2 of the summoned glowing backpacks. I carry some gear in them, sometimes summoned items, but it doesn't matter which bag I open; in fact I can open any 1 bag and the lag goes away, or all of them and the same effect happens. Using Windows 7, blue server, all of the updated files installed, none of the extra's for UI. Staring at the ground does not give the same effect as opening a bag. It feels like the game is constantly pinging the contents of the bags and until I open them I run very sluggish. I greatly appreciate the feedback. |
I believe I've seen this problem on an old laptop used for eq. iirc the slowdown is speedstep kicking in and throttling down your laptop. The bag gui causes enough cpu usage to put you over that cutoff and not be throttled. To test, try running a cpu intensive program in the background while playing and see if the lag is gone. http://www.fossiltoys.com/cpuload.html is a quick way to do it. I've found in another laptop, removing the all the mpci-e cards resulted in a slowdown fix for me. GL
